Getting Started

The hardest part about learning to dance is the initial decision to come in and start lessons. It seems that most people have many unanswered questions or impressions over what it's all about, so below are some FAQ's.

Q: What can I learn at Londance?

A: Rhythm and Latin Dances - Salsa, Swing, Lindy, Country Western, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Hustle, Bolero, Mambo, Rumba, and Samba. Smooth and Standard Dances - Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Qucikstep, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Waltz.

Q: How can I get started?

A: Your first lesson at the studio is your free introductory lesson. Make an appointment for your free lesson. Call our office for an appointment.

Q: What happens at my first lesson?

A: One of our highly qualified instructors will be assigned to you. They first start by discussing your general dance goals. If you don't really have one, or if you just "want to learn to dance," that's fine too! Following this discussion, you start learning immediately, and there's no better way to learn to dance than to actively do it yourself. It's an evening of great fun, allowing you to see what it would be like to be a part of our dance studio.

Q: Do I need a partner?

A: No, you do not need a partner. If you have one, that's great, but our instructors will still guide you regardless. You will have your own qualified instructor for a 45 minute private lesson. Your instructor will discuss what you want to learn and set up a program that's right for you. Beginners usually sign up for the General Variety program which teaches the most popular dances. To support your private lessons, each student may also attend, free of charge, our regular group classes designed to support what your individual teacher has been teaching you. It's a great way to meet other dancers and lots of our students go out social dancing to practice.
